The Motorola SL1600 is an ultra-slim dual analogue/digital two-way radio that provides flexible communications solutions for the present-day professional. Lightweight and extremely convenient to carry, the SL1600 is packed with technology that makes business-class two-way radio use simple and straightforward.
 
An ideal choice for everything from running security at busy events to managing team members at retail parks and leisure destinations, the SL1600’s compact size makes it one of the most portable two-way radio handsets on the market. At just 22mm thick, you will find no issues carrying the SL1600 in pockets, on a belt or in external holders.
 
In addition, the SL1600 benefits from Motorola’s innovative Range Max technology, which makes use of a patented high-efficiency antenna. Whilst reducing the overall size of the unit, this feature actually increases broadcast range and helps prolong battery life. Overall, the SL1600 provides 3W of output power with a maximum range of up to 3km. The battery is capable of lasting up to 14 hours on a single charge.
 
Another innovative, useful energy-saving feature is the unique Active View display. Whilst the SL1600 does not have a screen in real terms, it does boast a matrix of small, energy-efficient LED lights behind the front face which are used to communicate information to the user, such as the number of the channel they are using. These and the rest of the handset go into sleep mode when not in use to conserve battery.
 
The SL1600 has been ergonomically designed for easy, intuitive use. The side volume control, dedicated power button, push-to-talk button and top toggle channel switch have all been designed for quick one-handed use. The channel “fast toggle” allows users to scroll through 10 channels at a time. It features a micro USB port for convenient on-the-go charging.
 
True to form of a two-way radio designed for active use in both business and industry, the front display and indeed the rest of the chassis are shatterproof, tough and built to the highest standards of durability. It is rated as IP54 for dust and water ingress and the design has been proven through Motorola’s stringent Accelerated Life Test, which puts a handset through a simulated 5 years’ worth of hard service to test how it stands up to general wear and tear.
